Biology of Genomes

Research

Our research projects aim at understanding the biology and the evolution of eukaryotic genomes. We are combining an experimental approach on yeast species based on molecular genetics and functional genomics to an analytical exploration of genome sequences requiring bio-informatic skills and the development of new tools.

We study genome dynamics through the characterization of the structural variations of chromosomes and sequence polymorphisms at different scales, from cells to populations, and from strains and to species.

We are interested by the relationships between replication/recombination and the evolution of gene content, of gene organization along chromosomes and of protein sequences.

We also seek for the molecular mechanisms responsible for chromosomal rearrangements and for the variations of the nucleotide composition within and between genomes
